Jacket Required AW15 x The Trends - Contemporary Tailoring

The art of tailoring dates back as early as the 13th century, and the basis of the two-piece suit has rarely changed over the past few decades, where mainly fit has evolved to match the trend of the era. This season at Jacket Required autumn/winter 2015, the introduction of modern brands such as Mr. Start and House of Nines have brought an alternate spectrum of tailoring to the tradeshow, exploring the concept of heritage and contemporary, and references from the traditional to the active lifestyle of today.

Traditionally, the suit has always been considered as the smarter alternative - the uniform for work. "People lead active lifestyles now. A suit for example would be for work back in the day, and that would be his wardrobe. Now menswear is a bit more relaxed - jeans and trainers can still be a very smart look". Mr. Start have transitioned to a ready-to-wear fashion brand without neglecting their tailoring origins, utilising versatile separates and various combinations of shape & pattern together to present a modern brand.

Conceived on Savile Row, House of Nines explore the juxtaposition between contemporary and classic by playing with traditions. Introducing a variation of darting across their tailoring and adding other pieces to their collection outside of suiting, such as tees and biker jackets. "Once you know how to do a well fitting suit you can apply that to anything, but you can't lose the DNA of tailoring. We definitely enjoy embracing and playing with traditions. Our current inspirations range from The Godfather to Edward Scissorhands".
